We welcome students from all over the United States as well as Canada, the Far East and Europe. The REACH Program serves a maximum of 30 young men and women, 18 years of age and older.
All prospective students are given careful consideration by the Admissions Department.
Chapel Haven's REACH Program serves men and women, 18 years of age and older. The admissions process is designed to give the applicant and family a comprehensive view of Chapel Haven's programs. The Vice President of Admissions & Marketing begins the process by reviewing intake materials such as recent psychological / neuropsychological and adaptive evaluations, IEP's and vocational assessments. Next, the prospective applicant and interested parties are invited for a tour of our facilities and an interview.
All prospective residential students participate in a six-day evaluation and skills assessment. During this week, the prospective student follows a typical Chapel Haven schedule.
The visit is intended to be a mutually beneficial process; the prospective student has the opportunity to assess Chapel Haven and Chapel Haven can determine if we can best meet the needs of the prospective student. In this way, the 6-day evaluation period is an essential part of indentifying the prospective students' strengths, challenges, and base-line skill levels.
Our clients are:
Annual residential tuition (2019): $72,300
Annual day program tuition (2019): $43,800
All potential Chapel Haven clients, even those accessing our services on a limited basis, meet with the Admissions Office. To apply for any of Chapel Haven’s services, including Employment Services, Recreation Services, Supported Living Program, Education Program, Bridge or the Community Life Program please call the Admissions Office at 203-397-1714 extension 185.

Step 1: Intake Materials
As a follow up to an initial telephone inquiry, the Admissions Office will request the prospective applicant’s records, such as: academic (Current IEP), vocational assessment, social emotional development and psychological evaluation. After reviewing the intake records, a tour and interview date will be established. We generally require the applicant and parent(s) participate in a tour, so the applicant may make an informed decision when considering our program.
Stage 2: Tour and Interview
Prospective students will join their family members on an interview and tour of our campus. This provides the prospective student with more information about the REACH program, students, and staff. It also serves as an informal interview that provides admissions staff with more information about the prospective student’s strengths and needs. At the conclusion of the tour and interview, an invitation may be extended to participate in a sample day of classes, or an invitation may be extended to participate in a full overnight “week visit”.
Stage 3: Week Visit
Prospective students spend five nights and six days as a typical REACH student. They live in an apartment with current REACH students, attend REACH classes, complete life skills, and sample a selection of weekend recreation activities. Students receive one-on-one and small group supports during the visit, and are assessed across the apartment, classroom, and community settings. A detailed report summarizing the prospective student’s visit, strengths, and needs follows the conclusion of the visit, and provides the admissions decision.
Stage 4: Acceptance
The Admissions Office will notify prospective students and their families when the candidate is accepted for admission, typically within a week of the completed “week visit”. A confirmation letter of admission will be sent, which includes a 30-day notice for the advanced deposit payment necessary in order to reserve space in the program. Acceptance is based on July admission; however, when a student slot is available during the year, a student may be admitted at an agreed upon time and based on apartment availability.
